ABOUT ME
Picture
Welcome.  I'm glad you've stopped by.  A little bit about myself, beginning geographically.  I was born in West Texas, live in Brooklyn and am a founding member of the Chicago-based Sweat Girls, the critically acclaimed “mighty monologue mavens”.  I’m a big fan and believer in the power of stories – yours, mine and ours together - writing, telling and listening.  At heart, I am a theater person who writes out loud and loves the feel of pages in hand.

Of particular note, How Margaret Got Home, a full length play, has recently been revised and I'm actively searching for her theater family.  Me and My Chakras, a performance piece, is portable and powerful and can travel with an accompanying workshop for participants to develop their own chakra stories.  And lastly, I am putting together a book about my mom, who recently passed away, entitled Hurricane Betty.  Yes.  She was a force.  Oh, and there is that television project, with a pilot and an outline of the 1st season episodes, but, well, that’s really all that can be said until we meet in person and cross our hearts to keep it just between us.

Assembling this website has reminded me of what it’s like to do my taxes every year – slightly daunting, a must do and just when I think “ugh, why? I don’t think I can”, I find a fairly fabulous receipt that reminds me there is actually some method to the mayhem and a good amount of intention.  So thank you for visiting and click away.

A few more things:
·  A dental emergency proved to be a great eye opener.
·  Playing drums for Daisy Raiser, an all girl rock ‘n roll band, provided the longest adrenaline rush I've ever experienced.
·  Falling in love with Smart Design was thrilling and soul altering.
·  While helping to run the wildly popular Creative Theatrics in Brooklyn, I learned the value of simply tying a shoe.  And if it makes you laugh, it’s probably funny.

And just think, I was supposed to be a Balanchine ballerina.
